Melbourne is hosting the National Dance Forum.
‘The National Dance Forum is a project of Ausdance National and the Australia Council for the Arts. In association with Dance Massive, it will gather together some of Australia’s most exciting dancers, choreographers, curators, critics and collaborators in a lively discussion over two days on Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 March 2011 at Arts House North Melbourne Town Hall. The first national forum of its kind for many years, its overarching aim is to provide an opportunity for the dance sector to reflect on the state of dance practice in Australia now, and to chart a course for the future.’ (www.nationaldanceforum.net.au) Eflyer

I will attend the forum and post any interesting discussions arising, which I am sure there will be many of!

Short+Sweet Dance

The inauguration of our local Short+Sweet Dance Festival was a great success! The dance community and general public shows great enthusiasm and most important, the local choreographers and performers experienced great support from their peers and community. This festival has given the participants a platform in which to create, meet other practicing artists and perform their work. Congratulations to all the performers, choreographers and crew! /Adelina (Festival Director)

Congratulations to Viv Rogis and Liz Lea!

Find out soon what they will be working on in 2011.

the independents meet and…

These meetings (planned to be held every couple of months) does not yet have any aim in achieving anything in particular more then bringing the professional dance practitioners together for a chat to touch base. What will come out of them, well that depends on us, i guess!

There has been invites sent out.

Performance: David Corbet and Adelina Larsson

Installation Artist: Konstantin Dimopolous  title: ‘Dancers by a lake front’

When: 4th Sept, 12pm and 2pm
